Harnessing human-AI collaboration for an AI roadmap that moves beyond pilots
In this exclusive webcast, Concentrix's Ryan Peterson, Everest Group's Shirley Hung, and Valmont's Heidi Hough discuss turning AI ambitions into operational advantages. The past year has marked a turning point in the corporate AI conversation. After a period of eager experimentation, organizations are now confronting a more complex reality: While investment in AI has never been higher, the path from pilot to production remains elusive. Three-quarters of enterprises remain stuck in experimentation mode, despite mounting pressure to convert early tests into operational gains. "Most organizations can suffer from what we like to call PTSD, or process technology skills and data challenges," says Shirley Hung, partner at Everest Group. "They have rigid, fragmented workflows that don't adapt well to change, technology systems that don't speak to each other, talent that is really immersed in low-value tasks rather than creating high impact.

Microsoft reveals Windows 11's AI roadmap: Smart search, upscaling, more
Microsoft may have just shipped the Windows 11 2024 Update (24H2), but the company is already disclosing its plans for next-gen Windows apps -- and there's some very interesting AI-powered features due by the holidays. Microsoft disclosed that it is working on several AI additions to Windows and Windows apps: improved Windows search using natural descriptive language, super resolution in Photos, generative fill and erase in Paint, as well as the debut of Recall. All (save Recall) will appear in October as part of the Windows Insider program, with an expected launch in November. All of these features will depend on the NPU inside of Copilot PCs, which will now include PCs that feature Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processors as well as AMD's Ryzen AI 300 and Intel's Lunar Lake. Microsoft also plans several more Copilot features that will run in the cloud, which will include Copilot Voice and Copilot Vision, similar to the innovations used in competing AI services.
'OneDrive 3.0' shows off sharing, Office, AI roadmaps
OneDrive is investing in improved sharing and organizational features for business users, but consumers are being left behind: Microsoft will add media-centric search and AI capabilities, but that won't occur until next year. That will include the ability to search photos through facial recognition, a feature Google debuted about seven years ago. Microsoft executives referred to the updates as "OneDrive 3.0," a salt shaker of granular features being added to Microsoft's cloud storage. For now, the biggest changes are in organization: You'll be able to search for OneDrive files in a people view, as Microsoft has tipped before. OneDrive is also using some of the recent Windows 11 22H2/23H2 updates to File Explorer as a model to place recommended files in a carousel view at the top of the OneDrive page.

AI Roadmap
Below you find a set of charts demonstrating the paths that you can take and the technologies that you would want to adopt in order to become a data scientist, machine learning or an ai expert. We made these charts for our new employees to make them AI Experts but we wanted to share them here to help the community. If you are interested to become an AI EXPERT at AMAI (opens new window) in Germany, or you want to hire an AI Expert (opens new window), please say hi@am.ai. An interactive version with links to follow about each bullet of the list can be found at i.am.ai/roadmap (opens new window) To receive updates star (opens new window) and watch the GitHub Repo (opens new window) to get notified, when we add new content to stay on the top of the most recent research. The purpose of these roadmaps is to give you an idea about the landscape and to guide you if you are confused about what to learn next and not to encourage you to pick what is hip and trendy.
Artificial intelligence revolution offers benefits and challenges
Australia could once again have a globally competitive manufacturing sector by using automation driven by artificial intelligence (AI). That's the view of University of Adelaide researchers who are aiming to play a major role in the development of AI which is poised to reshape the global economy, bringing challenges and opportunities. The authors of the latest Economic Issues paper--"The impact of AI on the future of work and workers"--published by the South Australian Centre for Economic Studies (SACES) and the Australian Institute of Machine Learning (AIML), both research centers at the University of Adelaide, maintain that AI "has reached a global tipping point and we need to plan for it." The authors, Professor Anton van den Hengel and Dr. Paul Dalby, Director and Business Development Manager, respectively, of the AIML, and SACES Research Associate, Dr. Andreas Cebulla, describe AI as "the automation of tasks normally requiring human intelligence." "AI has the potential to temper the impact of globalization which has seen industry leaving developed countries seeking lower cost manufacturing options offshore," the authors say.
New strategy to unleash the transformational power of Artificial Intelligence
Digital Secretary Oliver Dowden revealed the move as he set out his Ten Tech Priorities to power a golden age of tech in the UK this week. Unleashing the power of AI is a top priority in our plan to be the most pro-tech government ever. The UK is already a world leader in this revolutionary technology and the new AI Strategy will help us seize its full potential - from creating new jobs and improving productivity to tackling climate change and delivering better public services. The Government will build on the UK's strong foundations put in place through the AI Sector Deal to develop and deliver an AI Strategy that is both globally ambitious and socially inclusive. It will consider recommendations from the AI Council, an independent expert committee that advises the government, which published its AI Roadmap in January, alongside input from industry, academia and civil society.

Following the AI Roadmap
Scaling value is about understanding how to move from pilot to production; getting your data strategy in place to drive real-time strategic actions; and establishing the right talent mix, operating model and governance framework. Those who succeed will reap the rewards. And those who fail may find their businesses fall by the wayside (75 percent of executives believe they will be out of business in five years if they cannot scale AI effectively). AI is no longer a "nice to have" or a set of cool tools to impress management. AI and data strategies are becoming the very core of business, and all the while it's becoming easier and cheaper to get your hands on the technology.
